| adsb.lol | Tu ubicación redondeada a 1 km aproximadamente. | Aviones en vuelo a tu alrededor. |
| OpenStreetMap (API Overpass) | Tu ubicación redondeada a 100 m aproximadamente. | Miradores, centros de salud, refugios, cuevas, fuentes y ríos. |
- No muestra publicidad.
Tus derechos y cómo controlar tus datos
Sky & Earth privacy policy
In short: Sky & Earth has no user accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking, and its developer runs no servers of their own and receives none of your data. To show you what is around you, the app sends your approximate location to some public data services. The camera image never leaves your device unless you share a photo yourself.
Who is responsible
Sky & Earth is an app developed by José Antonio Quiles Follana. For any privacy question you can write to joseanquiles@gmail.com.
What data the app uses and why
| Data | What it is used for | Where it is processed |
|---|---|---|
| Location (with your permission) | Working out where the Sun, the Moon, the planets and the stars are from where you stand, and which cities, mountains, places and aircraft are around you. | Calculations are done on your device. Only an approximate location is sent to the services listed below. |
| Camera (with your permission) | Showing the background image in the augmented reality views. | On your device only. The image is not recorded or sent anywhere. A photo is only taken when you tap the camera button. |
| Photos (with your permission, add only) | Saving to your library the photos you take with the names drawn on them. | On your device only. The app cannot see or read your library. If you share a photo, you send it yourself, to whoever you choose. |
| Notifications (with your permission) | Alerting you to the sky events you choose in Settings (ISS passes, full moon, meteor showers, eclipses, comets and exceptional events). | Calculated and scheduled on your device from your last location. Nothing is sent to any server. |
| Motion sensors (compass, gyroscope, accelerometer) | Knowing where you are pointing the device. | On your device only. |
| Preferences (language, layers shown) | Remembering your settings. | On your device only. |
| Downloaded data (satellite orbits, terrain elevation) | Working faster and offline. | Kept in the app's cache, on your device. |
External services the app connects to
To show up-to-date information, the app queries these public services. As with any internet connection, each service receives your device's IP address and what the app asks for; the app sends them no identifier of yours and no other personal data.
| Service | What it receives | What for |
|---|---|---|
| Apple Maps (MapKit) | Your location, to search for places nearby, and the position of the place you look up. | Places of interest, stations, airports and services, and the street-level view of a place. «Directions» opens Apple's Maps app with the destination; from there Apple's policy applies. |
| adsb.lol | Your location rounded to about 1 km. | Aircraft flying around you. |
| adsbdb | A flight's callsign (e.g. "IBE3456") and, when you open its sheet, the aircraft's code, without your location. | The flight's origin and destination, and the aircraft's model and operator. |
| OpenStreetMap (Overpass API) | Your location rounded to about 100 m. | Viewpoints, health centres, mountain huts, caves, drinking water and rivers. |
| Amazon Web Services (Terrain Tiles) | The map areas around you (several kilometres each). | Terrain elevation. |
| CelesTrak | No location data. | Satellite orbits. |
| Minor Planet Center (IAU) | No location data. | Orbits of comets and of bright and near-Earth asteroids. |
| Open-Meteo | Your approximate location, rounded to about 1 km, when you open «Sky» or «Sky events». | Cloud forecast for tonight. |
| Wikipedia and Wikimedia Commons | The name of the object you look up (e.g. "Mars") or of a photo, without your location. | A summary and picture of the object, and photos of places. |
Each of these services has its own privacy policy. Without an internet connection the app keeps working, without the data from these services.
What the app does not do
- It has no sign-up and no user accounts.
- It shows no advertising.
- It uses no analytics or tracking tools, and does not track you across apps or websites.
- It does not sell or share personal data.
- It does not save or send photos or video from the camera on its own: only the photos you take, and only where you decide.
- The developer receives and stores none of your data.
Your rights and how to control your data
You can grant or withdraw the location, camera, photos and notifications permissions at any time in your device's Settings › Privacy & Security. Without location the app cannot place the objects; without the camera the augmented reality views are shown without a background image.
As the developer keeps none of your data, there is nothing to access, correct or delete in their systems. Uninstalling the app removes your preferences and cached data from the device. Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) you may write to the address above with any question, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD) or your local data protection authority.
Children
The app is not specifically aimed at children and collects no personal data from anyone, children included.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes the way it uses data, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change.
